Ready Workforce Drives Business Success.

A certified ACT Work Ready Community, Tipton County is ensuring a ready workforce by focusing on workforce training in both secondary and postsecondary schools. The county has made investments in scholarships, mentorship programs and continually improving the current education systems to stay ahead of the curve. A recent TN SCORE winner (leaders in student learning in Tennessee) and home to two stellar post-secondary institutions, Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) and Dyersburg State Community College, Tipton County is making great strides in developing its workforce.

Many of the local businesses, including Mueller Industries and Sugaright, offer apprenticeships programs. Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Covington includes internships with almost all its programs. Many of the local industries are working with TCAT to help further develop their current employees, and the local high schools have developed dual enrollment programs and other training programs to meet the immediate needs of current industries.

Tennessee is leading the way in education reform by increasing the number of Tennesseans with college degrees or certifications through Tennessee Promise and TN Reconnect. As the only state in the country with these initiatives, Tennessee's higher education initiatives ensure employers have the support of highly skilled workers.
